#16 – God is the God of Words

God is the God of love. He is the God of peace. He is the God of light. He is the God of grace, of time, and space.

But do you know what else God is? He is the God of words.

At the creation of the universe, God didn’t mold the mountains with His hands. He didn’t toss the stars across space. He didn’t carve the trees or gather the clouds.

He spoke, and it was so.

Light had its beginning in His words. Time and space were a result of His breath. The sea brought forth life at His command. All things were created by words, except— When God created Man, He spoke to Himself, he formed Man out of dust, then He breathed His own life into us.

Words are powerful tools. The Bible says our words can build or tear down; that the power of life and death is in the things we say.

Man used this power in many different ways. We wrote poetry and song. We inspired kingdoms and armies. We brought trembling and fear. We taught and we learned. But then Jesus came on the scene and changed everything.

He spoke forgiveness to a lame man, and he began to dance. He spoke peace over a raging storm, and there was perfect calm. He spoke grace over a nation, and the world was forever changed. He cried “It is finished”, and we were offered eternal life.

The God of words has all authority, and we who choose to be His are His sons and daughters. Words have power, but our words have authority. Use what Christ has given you to do as He did. Spread forgiveness, peace, and grace to all the world.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
